Therapy for Cancer Survivors and Caregivers

Being a cancer survivor or feeling helpless when witnessing a loved one struggling with a cancer experience is not easy. As a cancer survivor you hear loved ones say “You look well!” but you don’t feel like your pre-cancer self, part of you still feels lost and hesitates to embrace life fully.

Common experiences include:

  • Handling the fear of recurrence

  • The continuation of some form of treatment for preventative reasons, or handling the uncertainty of possible long term effects

  • Fear of the unknown

  • Feeling alone, isolated, or misunderstood

  • Tolerating well-intentioned comments from others

  • Impact on important relationships

  • Re-examining values, the meaning of suffering, and death and dying

  • Struggling from handling physical changes and/or living with chronic pain due to the effects from cancer treatment

  • Struggle with body image and identity

  • Worries about cancer’s effects on your family, your children, your career…

How do you want to feel?

What would be required to feel a little more hopeful, be in control again, experience peace and for future plans not to be laced with fear?

Most of my clients don’t know the answer to this and that is why they turn to me. By working together, we will discover what is missing and consider that you are able to complete the puzzle. Are you curious about this part of you? It’s possible to get started.
